There's about 20 different types of amino acids your body needs in order to function and grow muscle. Whey protein powder is a "full" protein, meaning it contains a complete set of all those amino acids.
3 of those 20 amino acids are "branched chain amino acids" (BCAAs). These three in particular are the most important for muscle growth.
